Imperfectly Perfect

Today is Women’s day, and I enjoyed seeing my friends stand up for women rights and raising our standards, especially Oreva Ithipri. I enjoy being a woman, someone described my seriousness as being feminine, interesting.

In a world where you have an ideal woman mostly due to her physique and boys are more interested in the anatomy of the woman’s body rather than the chemistry between them and the woman in question (Mbachu Nnamdi) , women have seemingly failed to recognize their value.

I was having a conversation with a couple of friends and we decided that a girl’s body could not be perfect, actually now I very much disagree. GOD does not make mistakes, HE does HIS things perfectly. Everyone is trying to be a size 8, have extremely long hair, put in implants, trying to have the perfect body.

Sorry, but there’s no such thing because you are perfect the way you are. I’m not a size 8, and yes I do get the snide comments every now and then- ( someone poking me in the ribs and saying you’re too fat- you know yourselves).

It can be painful but I’ve found myself in The WORD of GOD that says Song of Solomon  4:7 Thou art all fair, my love; there is no spot in thee.

These are hard truths we need to face. Even the Proverbs 31 woman’s looks were not given, not that I’m saying looks are not important, but they don’t rule or make you.

So to all my beautiful sisters, its time we stop seeing our value in what we wear or look like but see your value in JESUS CHRIST and others will see that reflected in the outward appearance.

Let me repeat myself again, I thoroughly enjoy being a woman, more than anything a woman who knows the LOVE of her SAVIOUR.

JESUS knows the real you, no one else sees, HE is more than willing to take that and turn this wreck into a success.

HE loves you too much to see you hurt every single time. Let HIM in, let HIM show just how special, how loved and how cherished you are.

Highly  Anticipated

Believe it or not, GOD eagerly awaited your birth. HE was excited, so much so that HE wrote your life story.

Psalms  139:16 Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.

As a writer, by HIS Grace, I know what its like to create a new character, the thrill and fun of mapping out his/her life, friends and family. Imagine if one of those characters were to be born tomorrow.

Most of us were born under fairytale like circumstances, you know, your parents fell in love, got married and them you came along. With all confidence, you know, you didn’t need to be told that they kept themselves chaste before marriage.

So your kind of birth should be the type that would bring a smile to GOD’S face.

The rest of us who were born as a result of a one night stand, extramarital affair, rape, incest, you name it, know what its like to feel unloved, unimportant, unneeded and unwanted. You wonder why your parents couldn’t have married even if it was just for you.

You know what its like to shuttle between houses and not homes, putting up with Aunts that were more of Madams than Mothers, their Husbands that molest you. Everyday, you question why GOD allowed your birth especially to your parents.

Your parents made their own choices, albeit wrong ones. But GOD made HIS own choice; you, yes You, with all your mistakes, shortcomings, plenty of anger and baggage. So even if you did not have a fairytale life or picture perfect family, JESUS wants you. GOD eagerly, I repeat, eagerly awaited your birth.

How do you think I’d feel when people hurt my character by their poor choices? It hurts GOD to see you in pain. JESUS was born under questionable circumstances.

Turn to HIM, let HIM heal your pain. Don’t forget HE loves you. HE has so much planned for you, let HIM in.

Flawless

Song of Solomon  4:7 Thou art all fair, my love; there is no spot in thee.(KJV)

Songs of Solomon 4:7- [He exclaimed] O my love, how beautiful you are! There is no flaw in you! (AMP)

All our lives, we excuse many of our mistakes and shortcomings with this phrase; ” nobody is perfect”. Somehow, it helps us to explain imperfection in our bodies, relationships and yes spiritual lives.

But you are perfect; without spot or blemish just like the Lamb that was slain. Even with freckles, pimples, that acne that won’t seem to go away, you are flawless.

The Bible says as Christ is, so are we. GOD sees us with the Jesus lens; pure and clean.

It’s time you stopped comparing yourself to that slimmer girl or that taller guy. Just because you are not a size eight like your cousin does not mean you are imperfect or that there’s something wrong.

Sometime ago, I envied a rather quiet Christian girl. I’ll tell you why, she seemed to command more respect than I thought I did. The Lord made me realize ( something He still does continually) that my more outgoing personality was perfect for me. I could never be her, she could never be me.

Everything and everyone GOD has brought into your life is for a perfect reason. In HIS eyes, You are righteous, holy, pure , faultless not because of you but Christ that lives in you.

I’m not saying we don’t do wrong, make mistakes or hurt others, which we ask forgiveness for. The thing is don’t focus on those failings, shortcomings, weaknesses and magnify them, see yourself as Christ sees you; FLAWLESS.

Don’t forget GOD does not make mistakes.

Hearts with words

Ever read the scripture James 5:16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
This morning it seemed we were going to have a fair weather and believe me when I say I was glad. All of a sudden, it started to rain heavily. I don’t know how but I kept on praying for a fair weather. You know that point in time when you are praying and it seems nothing is changing or happening.

The rain did stop and in record time too.

Later this afternoon, I realized that every prayer I prayed as regards today has been answered.

Am I righteous? Was my prayer fervent enough? These are questions that would run through our minds. Yes I am righteous; 2 Corinthians 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. Yes my prayer was fervent because most of all it was from the heart, unyielding, even when victory seemed far.

Ruth reminded me of John Bunyan’s quote ; ” In prayer it is better to have a heart without words than words without a heart”

Let’s stop going through motions in our prayers merely reciting words. Its time for the effectual fervent prayers. Declare and believe you are holy and righteous. Why? Because Christ said ” It is finished”.

More than Enough

 My very first post

During Tuesday Bible Study this week, the minister that led the prayers used Psalm 23.

Each verse with its specific prayer point. The first verse struck a chord in me, “The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.” As I pondered on that verse, another one came to my heart, Ephesians 3:20; Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.

It occurred to me that GOD is more than able to supply for every single one of our needs even beyond our expectations. ” The power that worketh in us” is the same Power that raised Christ from the dead, that same Power can do pretty much anything and everything.

While this doesn’t mean that I don’t get worried, frightened, overwhelmed or even confused, it means that I’ve learnt to rely on the finished work of Christ, after all 2 Corinthians 8:9; For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.

Claiming and believing God’s promises is very important so that even when like sheep we hear the roar of a hungry lion, or watch the grasses wither, we know, we are certain that HE is able being the same, yesterday, today and forever.

    Praise be to KING JESUS.
